City to swoop for Alexis Sanchez?

English Premier League

With Manchester City's ban from UEFA competitions officially lifted, manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly hoping to complete a sensational move for Manchester United outcast Alexis Sanchez.

According to Chilean publication La Cuarta, Guardiola has rekindled his interest in the 31-year-old after previously missing out on his signature to United on deadline day in January 2018.

Sanchez has struggled for form since his move to Old Trafford, with a subsequent loan to Inter Milan failing to yield improvement, but that has not detracted from Guardiola's interest in his former player, whom he worked with at Barcelona.

It is claimed that the Red Devils would demand a fee of £17 million (R358 million) for the former Arsenal star, whose loan deal with Inter is set to expire in the coming weeks.

Nerazzurri manager Antonio Conte is also said to want to sign Sanchez on a permanent deal, but it remains to be seen whether or not Inter would be willing to match United's asking price.

"It is early to talk about Sanchez's future, sports rights belong to Manchester United," Inter chief Giuseppe Marotta said of the Chile star's future.

"We will evaluate his future with coach Antonio Conte, always bearing in mind that he is not a player of our property."
