Newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly on the brink of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara in a bid to retain their title next season.
Negotiations between the Reds and the former FC Barcelona star have reportedly reached an advanced stage and the only issue outstanding is an agreement with Bayern over a transfer fee for the midfielder.
That is according to Sport, with it being claimed that the Bavarians are demanding a figure of about €35 million (R666 million) for the 29-year-old, who has signalled his intention to leave the club despite having a year remaining on his contract.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has previously made his admiration for Thiago public, having described the Spain international as "a world-class footballer" after his side's UEFA Champions League draw with Bayern last season.
While Thiago could leave, the Bavarians have already made a number of additions to their squad ahead of next season, having brought in French wonderkid Tanguy Kouassi on a free deal from Paris Saint-Germain and snatched Leroy Sane from Manchester City.
