Liverpool confirm 3 deadline day exits

English Premier League

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have confirmed the departures of three players on the English deadline day.

On Thursday afternoon, just hours before the English-only deadline day slammed shut, the Reds announced that midfielder Herbie Kane had completed a permanent transfer to EFL Championship side Barnsley.

The 21-year-old, who made two senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side, has signed a four-year contract with the second division outfit in a deal that reportedly earned Liverpool about £1.25 million (R26 million).

Ben Woodburn, who famously became the Reds' youngest-ever goalscorer in 2016, has also departed the club after joining Blackpool on a short-term loan deal, which is expected to run until January.

The Wales international has spent the majority of the past two seasons on loan with Oxford United and Sheffield United, although his development was stifled after he suffered long-term ankle and foot injuries.

Harry Wilson has since followed suit after completing a season-long deal to Cardiff City. The 23-year-old Welshman spent the 2019/20 season on loan with AFC Bournemouth and had previously enjoyed short-term spells with Hull City and Derby County.
