Official: Leeds promoted to the PL

English Premier League

Leeds United have been promoted to the Premier League on Friday evening, ending a 16-year wait in the process.

Marcelo Bielsa's troops resumed the Championship season with defeat to Cardiff City last month, but then went on to register five wins from their next six encounters.

However, West Bromwich Albion's 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town on Friday night ensured Leeds will be in the top flight next season.

West Brom still remain in second spot after the defeat to Huddersfield, although they could replaced by Brentford, who take on Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.

While the final automatic promotion spot will be decided between West Brom and third-place Brentford, Fulham, Nottingham Forrest and Cardiff City currently occupy the play-off spots.
