Lingard linked with shock LaLiga move

English Premier League

Jesse Lingard has been linked with a surprise move to LaLiga as his Manchester United future remains unclear.

The England international impressed during his short-term loan spell at West Ham United where he notched up nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

The Hammers, who finished in the top six, were keen to make the move permanent but there has been no official approach for the 28-year-old.

With Lingard back at United for pre-season, the Daily Mail have reported that LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid have shown interest in the attacking midfielder whose contract expires next year.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the club to offer the 28-year-old a new contract to keep him at Old Trafford, but Lingard is not convinced he will get regular minutes this season.

The report added that the Hammers were prepared to offer £20million for the midfielder, Atletico will aim for a low transfer due to the player's potential wage demands.

Lingard has been included in the Red Devils' squad to face Derby County in a pre-season friendly on Sunday afternoon.
