Frank Lampard could be set to make a swift return to football after emerging as the favourite for the vacant AFC Bournemouth job.
Bournemouth are currently managerless after sacking head coach Jason Tindall on Wednesday morning with the Englishman's departure coming less than 24 hours after his side suffered a 2-1 EFL Championship defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
According to The Sun h/t Betfair, Lampard, who was fired by Premier League club Chelsea last month, has since emerged as the early odds-on favourite to replace Tindall, who in turn had only occupied the role for six months following Eddie Howe's resignation.
It remains to be seen whether the 42-year-old harbours any interest in the Cherries job, while others such as Nathan Jones, Garry Monk, Howe and Lampard's former Blues teammate John Terry, have all also been linked with the position.
The former England international has previous experience of coaching in the Championship after starting his managerial career with Derby County, where he narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League in the 2018/19 season.
He was appointed as Chelsea's boss soon after and oversaw 84 matches across all competitions during his time at Stamford Bridge, but ultimately departed after a run of disappointing results across the end of the last year and the start of 2021.
