Five attackers linked with Chelsea

English Premier League

With a few players out of contract at the end of the season at Chelsea, here are five players linked with the Blues ahead of the next transfer window, including Arsenal's top scorer.

ESPN have reported that the Blues are monitoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's situation closely, with talks between the Gunners and their striker stalling.

Aubameyang's deal is set to expire in 2021 but there has been no indication the Gabon international is keen to extend, with Barcelona and Manchester United also reportedly keen.

Another big name linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Philippe Coutinho, who is said to be keen on returning to the Premier League where he made his name at Liverpool.

Sky Sports have reported that Blues are one of the clubs being offered the chance to sign Coutinho for the 2020/2021 season, with the club keen on adding as Olivier Giroud, Willian and Pedro are out of contract in June.

The Blues have been backed as the right club for the Brazil teammate according to his former Liverpool teammate

“Obviously you look on paper at his CV, at the clubs he’s been at, and it’s unbelievable. You don’t get to those clubs without an enormous amount of ability," Johnson told talkSPORT.

“He’s not reached the heights he’s capable of since he’s left Liverpool and it’s hard to put your finger on why. I know he’s a quiet guy, a very nice lad, but he’s got a bit of fight about him on the pitch, he won't be pushed around.

“At Barca you go there and there’s a superstar in every corner you look, and maybe he just blended in a little bit rather than being the key man. I just think he needs to be made to feel a bit special; he needs an arm around him, and I think he’d get that at Chelsea.”

The Blues' shortlist is said to have included Olympique Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, Lille's Victor Osimhen and Germany international Timo Werner, who is also believed to be a target for Liverpool.
