Ten Hag sets the record straight on CR7 walkout

English Premier League

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has set the record straight after Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted leaving Old Trafford early last weekend.

The Portuguese star made his first appearance in pre-season as the Red Devils drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano last Sunday, with Ronaldo only lasting 45 minutes.

Ronaldo and a few other players were spotted leaving the stadium before the game had finished, which Ten Hag did not agree with.

The Dutch tactician has hit out at the media for making the story about Ronaldo when other United players also left early.

"Now I have to point out, those who left, there were many players who left - but the spotlight is on Cristiano. That is not right, so do your research and make out many players left, that was what was said," he said, as per Goal.

"He was part of it. There were a lot of players. I am really happy, I told you before, we have a top striker. I am really happy he's here with the squad and we stick to the plan.

"I'm satisfied with the whole team, we're working good, good culture and Cristiano is working really tough and hard."
