Ten Hag asks Man Utd star to delay exit

English Premier League

Manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly requested that a Manchester United star delay making a decision on his future after a bid from another Premier League club was placed for the player.

The Dutch manager began pre-season with 20 players on Monday, when he got the chance to get a first look at a portion of his new first-team squad.

Prior to the training session taking place, reports suggested that Fulham had made an £11 million (R213 million) offer for attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The Brazilian still has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, but appears to be some way from being a Red Devils regular, having struggled to secure regular first-team action under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal.

According to ESPN, however, Ten Hag is keen to see Pereira in training and has informed the player he would prefer to assess him before he makes a decision on his future.

It is said the 52-year-old wants to include the South American in United's pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia next month, and feels the 26-year-old may be a good fit for the football he wants the Red Devils to play next season.

With Flamengo, Fenerbahce and Fulham all showing interest in him, though, Pereira will have to decide if he thinks Ten Hag will be able to offer him the game time he feels he deserves or seek new pastures.
