Manchester City got back to winning ways in an emphatic fashion following a 4-1 hammering of Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening.
A brace from Gabriel Jesus put City on their way with contributions from Rodri and Riyad Mahrez adding to the mix. Rob Brady bagged the home side's consolation.
City move back into second place ahead of Leicester City, who welcome struggling Watford in Wednesday’s action, while Burnley dropped to 11th spot.
The Citizens will now shift their focus to Saturday's encounter with cross-town rivals Manchester United.
Crystal Palace 1-0 AFC Bournemouth
Ten-man Crystal Palace claimed a second succcessive league win after edging Bournemouth 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
It was not the best of starts for Palace, who were reduced to 10 men after 19 minutes when was shown a straight red card for a dangerous lunge.
Despite being a man down, Palace got the game's only goal through Jeff Schlupp in the 76th minute.
As a result, Palace move up to fifth spot in the standings while, who have now suffered a fourth straight loss, sit in 12th spot.
