Man City cruise past Cherries

English Premier League

Manchester City got back to winning ways following a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth in the English Premier League.

With Gabriel Jesus ruled out following a hamstring injury, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva led the Citizens charge in a front-three.

An eventful opening five minutes called Ederson to action after Josh King fired a warning shot, whilst Oleksandr Zinchenko needed treatment for a facial cut.

City went in front 14 minutes on the clock after Aguero applied a striker’s finish from Kevin De Bruyne’s half-hearted attempt.

Charlie Daniels got stretched off 36 minutes in after suffering a serious injury, with Harry Wilson introduced.

Bournemouth almost levelled a minute later, but Adam Smith failed to beat Ederson who made a blinding save.

The visitors strengthened their grip three minutes to halftime after Sterling picked up a David Silva ball to cushion past Aaron Ramsdale.

Wilson halved the deficit on the brink of halftime with a stunning free-kick, giving Ederson no chance whatsoever.

Swift action was how the second half got off the mark, with Wilson going behind the defence to force Ederson into a save whilst De Bruyne curled the wrong side of the post.

Rodrigo was City’s first change from the bench in the 58th minute, with IIkay Gundonan sacrificed for the Spaniard.

The Citizens re-established their two-goal advantage on 64 minutes when Aguero played a one-two with Silva to slit past Ramsdale for his second of the day.

Bournemouth moved into a few promising areas in the final quarter, but the Citizens maintained the pace of the game to preserve their lead.

The speed of action took a backslide towards halftime as the champions enjoyed possession to take all the points to go second on the standings
