Newcastle United 1-3 Liverpool
Premier League champions Liverpool ended their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday evening.
Newcastle raced to a first-minute lead when Dwight Gayle ran behind the defence to poke past Alisson Becker, with the Video Assistant Referee monitor giving the thumbs up after offside calls.
Liverpool threatened for the first tine just before the half-hour mark when Minamino dropped to the inside left before having Martin Dubravka at full stretch.
The newly-crowned champions clawed level when Virgil Van Dijk leaped highest to head beyond Martin Dubravka after 38 minutes following good work down the left from Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Van Dijk looked for a second goal similar to his first two minutes from halftime after towering over the defence to get onto Milner’s corner, but Dubravka parried this time.
Liverpool were in front 59 minutes in when Origi curled into the bottom corner after cutting in from the edge of the area following a pass from Andrew Robertson.
The big guns entered for the Reds shortly after the 64th minute in Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with Salah hitting the post four minutes later off a low shot from close-range.
Mane put the result beyond doubt after meeting a ball from Firmino before curling from inside the box in time added on, as the Reds cap off a fine campaign.
Manchester City 5-0 Norwich City
Manchester City completed their Premier League season with a thumping 5-0 victory over Norwich City on Sunday evening.
Just a single change for Manchester City after their win over Watford had the departed David Silva slotting in for his Portuguese counterpart Bernardo Silva.
The home side took the lead after 11 minutes when Gabriel Jesus tapped in from the near side of the area following a low ball from the right by Raheem Sterling.
A good opportunity for a second just after the midway stage found Phil Foden laying off a cross to the far post for Sterling, who failed to keep his header down and on target.
The second came though as Kevin De Bruyne skipped a challenge of Marco Stiepermann before curling home from 20 yards out right on the cusp of halftime.
A triple substitution from the Citizens straight after halftime had Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Fernandinho entering with the contest in the balance.
Sterling gave his side a third goal in the final nine minutes after slamming home a perfect pass from De Bruyne with the defence back-tracking.
Mahrez netted the fourth from close-range a little later after capitalising on a poor pass from their counterparts before firing into the bottom left corner.
The Citizens capped off a fine evening’s work when De Bruyne completed his brace after creating space from close-range before finding the top corner, giving his side a perfect ending.
