Coronavirus hits first English club

Coronavirus has reached its first English football club as the first COVID-19 case to affect a member of a team in England is confirmed.

With LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League matches to be played behind closed doors, the owner of EFL Championship side Nottingham Forest has now confessed that he has been infected by the rapid virus.

"The recent virus has ‘visited’ me and I felt obliged to let the public know," the club's majority shareholder Evangelos Marinakis said via his personal Instagram account.

"I feel good as I take all the necessary measures and I discipline to the doctors' instructions. I strongly advise all my fellow citizens to do the same. I wish all a quick recovery.”

The Greek owner has been placed under self-isolation by medical professionals according to The Guardian and is hoping to recover quickly.

Marinakis was last seen publicly after Forest lost 3-0 at home to Millwall on Friday.
