Ronaldo's Man Utd debut to be delayed?

English Premier League

With Cristiano Ronaldo currently in quarantine after his early return from international duty, his second Manchester United debut could now reportedly be delayed.

The Portuguese forward was officially announced as a Red Devils player last week after reaching an agreement with the club regarding personal terms, but new reports suggest that the Premier League team's supporters may have to wait a little while longer before seeing the 36-year-old make his second debut for his new club.

With the forward having to spend five days in quarantine upon his arrival in Manchester due to COVID-19 regulations, The Sun has reported that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's debut could be delayed as he will have little time to prepare for the clash against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

While Ronaldo might have to settle for a spot on the bench on the weekend, he would likely make his debut against Swiss side BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League next week.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown this season that he prefers to embed his new signings slowly into his first XI, having opted to wait until his team's third fixture of the 2021/22 league campaign to give Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane their first starts of the season.

Ronaldo's second debut is much-anticipated, and he will once again wear the club's famous No. 7 jersey after Edinson Cavani gave up the number to take the No. 21 shirt that was previously occupied by Daniel James, who joined Leeds United last week.
