Ronaldo 'furious' after Ten Hag criticism

English Premier League

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly furious with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after he criticised the Portuguese star for leaving Old Trafford early on Sunday.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was the centre of attention over the weekend after he played the first half in a pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano and then left the stadium before the final whistle blew, along with some of his teammates.

After the incident occurred on Sunday, Ten Hag said in an interview that the behaviour of the group of players was "unacceptable".

According to the Metro, the 37-year-old's relationship with the head coach is now at rock-bottom as the star was left furious with his manager's comments, and now wants an exit from the club more than ever.

It has been said that Ten Hag has already decided to bench Ronaldo for United's Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, with the coach having previously stated that the player's match fitness is not yet up to scratch.

Ronaldo missed the majority of the club's pre-season preparations due to a reported family issue, while his search for a new team has been a frustrating process as a number of major European sides decided against signing the veteran.

Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain have all reportedly turned down the chance to sign the striker due to various concerns about his wage demands and impact on the dressing room.
