Chelsea legend makes shock return

English Premier League

Premier League giants Chelsea have included retired goalkeeper Petr Cech in their squad for the 2020/21 campaign.

The 38-year-old former Czech Republic international is currently the Blues' technical and performance advisor, but has been included in the squad by Frank Lampard as a non-contract player for the season.

Cech, who holds the record for the most clean sheets in Premier League history, has been selected as "a precautionary step due to the unprecedented conditions currently caused by the COVID-19 crisis", according to Sky Sports.

The four-time EPL Golden Glove-winning shot-stopper retired in 2019 after Arsenal's UEFA Europa League final defeat to Chelsea, before returning to Stamford Bridge later that year to take up a backroom role.
