Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has reportedly demanded a substantial increase in order to sign a new contract with the club.
The Portugal international has been a vital figure for the Red Devils since his move from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, with the 27-year-old scoring 47 goals and providing 34 assists in 106 games for the Premier League giants since.
With Fernandes having hit high numbers in goal contributions, it has now been reported that he is looking to be among the highest-paid players at United.

According to The Athletic, Fernandes, who is said to currently be on £100 000 (R2.1 million) a week, wants to see his wages doubled to at least £200 000 (R4.2 million), with teammates Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani all earning that amount or more at Old Trafford.
The Manchester club has previously attempted to renew the playmaker's contract, but it is believed his representatives decided to stall talks in this regard as they want to see how the team finishes the campaign.
Despite this, though, the United hierarchy is "relaxed" about the contract stand-off, per The Athletic, and is under no pressure to extend the player's current deal, which is only set to expire in 2025 and has an option of a further year.
