Brighton complete double coup

English Premier League

Brighton & Hove Albion are still unable to call on the services of Percy Tau, but the Premier League outfit has bolstered its squad with the signings of two decorated players in the past week.

Despite spending the past two seasons on loan with Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge, Tau remains ineligible for a work permit in the United Kingdom and is expected to return to Belgium for a third loan spell in the coming days.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star, who won the Jupiler Pro League title with Brugge last season, has been strongly linked with a move to Anderlecht, while Royal Antwerp have also been credited with an interest in his services.

Nonetheless, Brighton have been active in the transfer window since securing their place in the Premier League, and have bolstered their squad with two high-profile signings ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Earlier in the week, the Seagulls announced the signing of midfielder Adam Lallana on a free transfer, just days after the England international's contract with newly crowned champions Liverpool came to an end.

The club then pulled off a second coup on Wednesday when they completed a deal to sign Netherlands international Joel Veltman from Eredivise winners Ajax Amsterdam, landing the 28-year-old's signature for a fee of just £900 000 (R19 million).
