Big 'Ronaldo to Man City' update

English Premier League

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly taken one step closer to joining Manchester City after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Pep Guardiola's side.

On Thursday morning, it was reported that the Premier League giants had submitted a contract offer to Ronaldo, with the forward said to be set to earn £230 000 (R4.7 million) a week in Manchester.

However, according to The Independent, the Portuguese forward has now agreed personal terms with the Citizens, with his wages set to be more than £250 000 (R5.1 million) a week.

The remaining obstacle in the deal is said to be the transfer fee, with the Citizens reportedly not keen on paying a hefty sum for the veteran, while Juventus are rumoured to have priced Ronaldo at £25 million (R514 million).

It is further claimed that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has already spoken to Guardiola about his role in the team.

There are concerns the former Manchester United star will upset his ex-club's fans should he complete this move, but he reportedly believes that City can give him another real chance of winning both the UEFA Champions League and another Ballon d'Or.

Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes was seen in Turin on Wednesday evening as he reportedly attempted to negotiate an exit from Italy for his client, and to get Juve to lower their transfer demands.

The 36-year-old is under contract with the Bianconeri expires in June 2022, but it is understood that he aims to finalise a move away from the Serie A club before the current transfer window closes.
