Cresswell believes the 32-year-old Argentine will improve the Hammers on and off the pitch with his playing ability and leadership qualities.
"His quality is there for all to see, so he is a great addition to the squad," the 27-year-old said.
"Pablo will not only make his presence felt on the pitch, but his experience will rub off on the young lads around the training ground."
Zabaleta won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and two League Cups during his time at Manchester City. He also claimed the Spanish Cup with former team Espanyol.
