Lorch: We can’t afford to lose

Pirates jetted out to Tunis directly after drawing 1-1 in their Absa Premiership clash with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday for their CAF Champions League clash against the defending champions on Tuesday (16h00 SA time).

The Buccaneers were earlier held to a goalless stalemate by the same outfit at Orlando Stadium last weekend and remain joint-top of Group B with five points from their three games thus far.

With just three games remaining – one home and two away, Lorch has emphasised the need to return home with at least a draw from this afternoon’s encounter against Esperance.

“We played well in the first game, we created a lot of chances, but it just wasn’t our day. I think we should have won by about three goals,” Lorch told KickOff.com.

“I think the second leg is the same as the game against Chiefs, in the sense that we can’t afford to lose the game – it’s either we win, or we draw – because we’re on the same amount of points.

“But it’s going to be a tough game away from home, we just have to go out and be strong and fight.”

The 25-year-old, who bagged his 10thgoal of the season over the weekend, is having the season of his life and refuses to complain about games coming in quick succession.

“I wouldn’t say it’s difficult – as players, we like playing football, so when games come thick and fast like this, it’s exciting for us,” he defended.

“We won’t question why we’re playing two days after another match, we just have to be professional and go out and play.”
