Al-Merrikh head coach Didier Gomes expressed his admiration for Pitso Mosimane after his side were drawn with Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The record nine-time champions were drawn alongside the Sudanese giants, Simba SC and AS Vita Club to clash for a place in the knockout stage of the competition.
And the well-travelled Gomes who's won titles in Cameroon with CotonSport and Guinean with Horoya admits the prospect of the Mosimane-led Red Devils will be a daunting task.
"Everyone knows [Pitso] Mosimane, given what he did in the past and being the best coach in South Africa. Facing him is a pleasure for me," the Frenchman told OnTime Sports.
"I respect Pitso a lot, as he has a good vision as well as a distinguished personality. Al Ahly's decision to hire him has been very successful.
"I know Al Ahly well. I follow them from Sudan, and I saw their good start in the Egyptian League, and last season the team was performing brilliantly with Rene Weiler."

Gomes went on to admit Mosimane's moves in the transfer market has improved their already star-studded squad but feels his side has what it takes to qualify alongside the Club of the Century.
"They have players with tons of experience and harmony that was developed over the years," Gomes explained.
"The team has made great additions in the transfer market, most notably Badr Banoun, the former Raja player, and I know that their current goal is to defend the title.
"We have a great team, and I trust their ability to reach the quarter-finals and qualify from this group to the second round. And this is what every team seeks."
