Pirates have really struggled for consistency of late, winning just two of their last 10 matches across all competitions, and mostly due to their own doing.
The Buccaneers have managed only four clean sheets since the turn of the year and have conceded first in eight of those 14 encounters – six of which has been by Sandilands.
The veteran shotstopper thus admits their defending has been less than impressive since his return at the start of February but insists he is not focussed on his own record but rather the results of the team, while he assures, they are looking to improve on their bad habits.
“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, to be honest, but it’s good to be back and playing again. Obviously, the clean sheets have been elusive but at the end of the day it’s about the team’s results,” Sandilands tells KickOff.com.
“The first priority is that we’re hoping the team’s performance can improve, because it’s now the business end of all competitions and we need to try and win as many games as possible.
“It’s a bit frustrating [the way we’ve conceded first so often]. We are aware of the problem and we are speaking about it, and we know that we have to start games off a bit better.
“I mean, it’s the worst thing in the world to have to chase after a result all the time, but we know more than anybody that we have to improve from that aspect, and we will be looking to do that.”
