Miquissone reveals what Pitso told him

CAF Champions League

Simba SC star Luís Miquissone has revealed what he discussed with his former coach Pitso Moismane after inflicting his first CAF Champions League defeat with Al Ahly.

Miquissone, 25, has developed into one of the leading performers in Africa since joining Simba after an ill-fated stint at Mamelodi Sundowns.

And his reputation soared to greater heights on Tuesday afternoon when his spectacular first-half effort at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was enough to end Ahly's 13 match unbeaten run in the competition.

Mosimane identified the Mozambique international as the danger man in the build-up to the game but his warning wasn't enough to prevent his second defeat at the Red Devils after Bayern Munich beat them 2-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup.

"I spoke to Pitso before the game with my coach, I took him there and I must say Pitso did help me a lot and taught me how to be strong in football you know, that's good," he tells KickOff.com.

"I greeted him and he said I had a good game and I told him good luck for the next games, only that."

Miquissone went on to discuss the historic moment of beating the record nine-time Champions League winners and explained how much it meant on a personal level to silence his doubters.

"At Simba, they give me confidence and they play me as I told you before they give me chances, you need faith from your team so you can work hard and give everything on the pitch," the former UD Songo winger said.

"You know supporters, staff and the club all believe in you, like playing against a big team like Al Ahly is special for us, you have extra motivation because we know it's one of the best teams in Africa.

"That's why we knew we need to give everything and show our quality - that's a good moment to show it against top players and a top club."

Simba moved to the summit of Group A with two wins from two games and travel to Sudan next to face winless El Merrikh.
