Zidane's son in talks with African giants

CAF Champions League

Wydad Casablanca are in talks to sign Enzo Zidane from Spanish side UD Almería, according to his representative Roberto Carlos.

Zidane, 24, is the oldest of four sons of Real Madrid legend and current head coach Zinedine and came through the ranks of Los Blancos before stints with Alavés, Lausanne-Sport and Aves before his January switch to the second-tier outfit.

Bankrolled by Emirati billionaire Turki El Shiekh, the former honorary president of Al Ahly, the move surrounded plenty of media exposure and a real coup for the promotion-chasing side.

However, his representative, who is a former teammate of his father and a Brazil football icon, Carlos, confirmed in a video that the France youth international is set to join the CAF Champions League semi-finalists.

"Hi President Naciri, it’s a great pleasure to speak to you. I expect to conclude the deal for Enzo Zidane, a very good player, with Wydad, a big club in Casablanca," he said.

Wydad have already secured the signing of Morocco striker Ayoub El Kaabi and Libya midfielder Muaid Ellafi for next season whilst they continue to chase the 2019/20 Botola Pro title against Raja Casablanca and RS Berkane.
