Zambia midfielder dies in car crash

Zambia midfielder Chrispin Mulenga has died after suffering fatal injuries in a car collision on Sunday night in Kitwe, Nkana has confirmed.

The 30-year-old midfielder who was part of their 2019/20 Zambia Super League winning squad featured for the club less than 24 hours prior to the tragic incident in their 2-0 win over Indeni in the Charity Shield final.

"Good morning family, on a sad note midfielder Chrispin Mulenga was involved in a road accident around 23h00 last night around Kitwe’s Ndeke area and died around 02h00 at Kitwe Central Hospital," the clubs' statement read.

"We shall soon update you with the full details of the funeral. We are so broken."

Mulenga was expected to play a key role in Nkana's target of qualifying for this season's CAF Champions League group stages.
