Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly booked their spot in the CAF Champions League group stages after hammering ten-man AS SONIDEP 4-0 in the second leg of the first round.
Mosimane made four changes from the goalless draw against Wadi Degla over the weekend, as shot-stopper Ali Lotfi, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Yasser Ibrahim and Ahmed Yasser Rayan were all handed starting berths.
The hosts got off to a perfect start after Taher Mohamed fired opened the scoring in the 13th minute after latching onto a through ball by Walid Soliman before slotting home from close range.
The evening got tougher for SONIDEP as they were reduced to ten men four minutes later after their goalkeeper was sent off for a tackle on Rayan outside the box.
The Red Devils doubled their lead eight minutes before half-time after Soliman converted Ali Ma'aloul low cross with a good finish inside the box as they went to the break with a comfortable.
It was a one-way traffic for Al Ahly after the break as they were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute that was dispatched by Badr Banoun, who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 3-0 on the night.
Just after getting on the scoresheet, Banoun was withdrawn by Mosimane and Saad Samir took his place at the back, making his return after a lengthy absence.
Mahmoud Kahraba got the fourth goal for the Red Devils in the last minute with a tap-in into an empty net after a pass by Aliou Dieng as Al Ahly sealed a 4-0 win on the night and 5-0 win on aggregate to advance to the group stages.
