Hunt eyes Champions League impact

CAF Champions League

Wits will start their campaign with a preliminary-round tie against Reunion Islands side AS Saint Louisianne on the weekends of February 10-12 and 17-19.

The Students exited the first round of the 2016 Confederation Cup, losing 7-3 to Tanzanian outfit Azam FC over two legs, while the year before they surrendered a 3-0 lead with a second-string side in a 6-5 penalties defeat to Royal Leopards of Swaziland.

Hunt, however, has confidence they can better those efforts in Africa's premier club competition.

"You must remember next year’s Champions League you got one round less, so if we win our first game, we in the Champions League or we in the Confed Cup, either way," said Hunt.

"If we lose the second round, then we are in the Confed Cup. If we win the second round, we are in the group stages. We are going to win the first round, come on."

Kings of Africa Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their defence against either KCCA from Uganda or Primeiro de Agosto from Angola in March.
