Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have responded to Pep Guardiola's recent comments about Leroy Sane's future amid speculation linking the Manchester City star with a move to the Bavarian giants.
Sane, 23, has been heavily linked with an exit from the defending Premier League champions, with Bayern believed to be keen on snapping up the former Schalke winger as a long-term replacement for former stars Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
When asked recently if Sane will be a City player when the 2019/20 campaign commences, the former FC Barcelona mentor replied: "Yes," as per the Daily Express.
"The club made him an offer last year, but I said many times that I want people happy to be here.
"We are going to help him to be the best. We know his potential and what his level is, and he has a special quality that is difficult to find around the world.
"He knows, they all know, it's difficult because of the quality we have. But, at the same time I spoke to the club 10 times, and I want people here to be happy. If they don't want (to be here), they go.
"But the desire to have him to be with us is always there."
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has since responded to Guardiola's sentiments about Sane, claiming that the Citizens boss is not aware of all the happenings at the Etihad, suggesting that a move to Germany for Sane could still be on the cards.
"I do not want to submit any water level reports," he told reporters, as per Manchester Evening News.
"If there is something to announce, then we will do that. But that's not so far.
"I do not know if Pep knows everything that goes on in his club. No idea. Let's wait."
Since joining City from Schalke in 2016, Sane has amassed 133 appearances for the Citizens, finding the back of the net on 39 occasions and registering 45 assists.
