LaLiga star to ditch Spain for Ghana?

Ghana looks set to bolster their squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with a LaLiga star reportedly to ditch Spain to represent the Black Stars.

Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams has only made one appearance for the Spanish national side, which came in an international friendly against Bosnia in 2016.

Williams and his brother Nico, who also plays for Bilbao, are both eligible to represent the Black Stars due the parents coming from Accra.

Ghanaian reporter Nathaniel Obeng has now reported that the 27-year-old striker is now pledging his international allegiance to Ghana.

Inaki initially did not want to represent Ghana when asked about a potential nationality switch last year.

"My parents are from Accra, and I really enjoy going. But I wasn't born or raised there, my culture is here, and there are players who would mean more," Inaki said in 2021, as per Ghanasoccernet.

"I don't think it would be right to take the place of someone who really deserves to go and feels Ghana 100%," he added.

Reports claim that Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal strike Eddie Nketiah are also keen on representing the Black Stars.
