Kaizer Chiefs' Samir Nurkovic and AmaZulu ace Bongi Ntuli, with 10 goals each, trail the Malawi international for the prestigious honour that looks set to be a fearsome challenge this season.
South African legend Siyabonga Nomvethe recently backed the 20-goal mark to be reached in the top-flight for the first time since he achieved it with now-defunct Moroka Swallows in 2012.

Where does the rest of Africa rank?
Looking towards the rest of the continent's major leagues, only the Kenyan Premier League currently boasts similar numbers with AFC Leopards marksman John Makwatta also reaching the 12-goal mark.

The former Chipolopolo striker joined Red Arrows on a short-term deal last year after a decade of success in China but has since gone on to become a leading figure in the division.
Among the other stars of Africa that feature in the top 10 include Rwanda international Meddie Kagere of Simba Sports Club, Abdallah El-Said of Pyramids and TP Mazembe wonderkid Jackson Muleka.
