After Milutin Sredojević was denied a second major trophy with Zamalek SC by rivals Al Ahly, the reason behind their refusal to collect their second-place medals has been revealed.
The White Knights suffered another damaging defeat after their shock result in the CAF Champions League first round to Generation Foot, with the 3-2 loss in the Cairo derby on Friday.

Their refusal to collect their second-place medals after the game raised a few eye-brows on social media but the club have since clarified the reasons behind it.
According to Zamalek’s website, a young fan Adham Mosaad, passed away in a car accident on his way to the fixture and they paid their respects to him and his family with the gesture.

"Zamalek players left the pitch and refused to receive their medals after they learned about the death of Zamalek fan Adham Mosaad," read a statement on the club's website.
“Zamalek players were deeply saddened by the news and agreed not to receive the medals as a kind of support for the kid’s family."
The five-time African champions kick off their league campaign tonight against Ittihad of Alexandria at the Petro Sport Stadium in New Cairo.
