The president of Malawi has reportedly promised his national team a big financial reward if they get a "desired result" in their Africa Cup of Nations tie against Senegal this evening.
The south-east African nation began their tournament with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Guinea, before they bounced back with a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe.

Malawi are just one point behind the top two teams in Group B – Senegal and Guinea both have four points from their opening two fixtures – so all eyes will be on their final group match as it will confirm whether they exit the prestigious tournament or go through to the knockout phase.
With the tie scheduled to kick off on Tuesday evening, Malawi president Lazarus Chakwera has seemingly taken it upon himself to inspire his national team to try to beat second-placed Senegal.
"If Flames get a desired result against Senegal today and proceed to Round of 16, I pledge K1 million (about R18 500) to each of the featured players and K500 000 (about R9 250) each to those that will be on the bench. I wish them all the best and let us all rally behind them," he wrote on Twitter, per BBC.
The Flames will be hoping Orlando Pirates star Gabadinho Mhango can continue his fine form in front of goal, with the striker having started the tournament with two goals in as many games.
