Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona appears to be heading for the Anderlecht exit door after a two-year nightmare spell with the Belgian giants.

Musona, 29, joined the 34-time Belgian top-flight champions in May 2018 from domestic rivals Oostende with a massive reputation.

Over four seasons in the division, he established himself as a clinical inside forward, netting 41 goals and registering 18 assists in 112 games across all competitions.

But his career has since stagnated in Brussels with only three league starts to his name and an underwhelming loan spell at KSC Lokeren last season.

Musona featured in just one reserve fixture in this season and with the club's debts significantly rising, he's is expected to be part of a January clearout - as 38 players are currently registered in the first-team.

With two years remaining on his current contract, Vincent Kompany's side will look to recoup some of the €2.5 million (R40m) they forked out on his services.

According to Belgian outlet, Nieuwsblad, several South African sides have been priced out by his wages and Sint Truiden, who were keen on his signature in pre-season are now favourites to secure a deal.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star's move to the 11th placed top-flight outfit fell through after he underwent surgery on his groin.

However, it remains to be seen whether Marc Brys' side willing to meet Anderlecht's asking price as they were said to have launched a loan offer six months ago.
