Al Ahly made it two wins from two games in the Egyptian Premier League after defeating National Bank 1-0 on Sunday evening.

Following his sterling debut in midweek against Ismaily SC,Pitso Mosimane afforded South African international Percy Tau another start and retained Luis Miquissone too.

Tau was also voted the Egyptian Premier League Player of the Week after his impressive showing on Wednesday night.

With chances brought about on either side, the first half between Ahly, who surrendered the title to Zamalek SC last season, and the outfit of National Bank finished goalless.

As a result, Mosimane issued a substitution earlier on in the second half, with last season's CAF Champions League top scorer Mohamed Sherif introduced for Mohamed Hany.

It proved decisive after 62 minutes as Sherif went and secured the breakthrough with a powerful shot from Amr El-Sulaya’s teasing attempt towards the actual target.

With the lead in clear sight, the host decided to withdraw Miquissone and Tau following a pretty decent spell of play from the duo.

National Bank threatened the home side’s lead near the end through a clever shot by Mohamed Helal, who had carved space in between the defence but Ali Lotfi noted the danger and cleared.

In the end, Ahly raced to a slender victory that maintained their perfect start to the season while at the summit of the league table.
