Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly made it four wins from four matches in the Egyptian Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Al Mokawloon on Friday evening.
There were no changes from Ahly as Mosimane rewarded the individuals that starred in their fantastic Cairo Derby win, whereas Hassan Ali Abdelrazak Shamy was Mokawloon’s only change.
Mokawloon were buoyant following the opening exchanges and looked to have gone ahead courtesy of a nice finish by Farouk Kabore, though the goal was ruled out for offside.
From three matches following the start of the season, Mokawloon travelled to Cairo with just a single win in contrast to the Cairo Red Devils leading the top of the pile.

Ahly’s nervous spell of play continued as the second half resumed, with a penalty going the way of Mokawloon before the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed and overruled the decision.
It didn’t unsettle the host who still went on to break the deadlock midway through second half through a cleverly taken header by Hamdy Fathy, giving goalkeeper Abou El-Saoud no chance.
This happened before the Cairo Red Devils introduced their first substitution in Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Kader Radwan ahead of Ayman Ashraf.
South African international Percy Tau was withdrawn late in the match and saw the host throw in Hussein El Shahat to manage the final stages.
Late drama following a lengthy stoppage time had Ahly finishing the match with ten players after Fathy got a red card, as the match concluded.
