Queiroz questioned for axing Al Ahly duo

African Football

An Egypt legend has questioned coach Carlos Queiroz's decision to snub Al Ahly star duo Mohamed Sherif and and Mohamed Afsha for his latest squad.

Sherif was on target in Queiroz's first game in charge on Friday as the Pharaohs defeated Liberia 2-0 in a friendly at the Borg El-Arab Stadium.

However, the CAF Champions League top scorer was left out of the final squad list for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Libya along with his Al Ahly teammate Afsha.

Former Egypt and Al Ahly striker Emad Meteb feels the technical team must come out and explain why the Red Devils duo were snubbed.

“A member of the technical staff should explain the reasons behind the decision, Afsha and Sherif are both important players," Meteb said, as per KingFut.

“The decision is strange, illogical and it doesn’t make any sense to me,” he added.
