It’s a lead the record-breaking continental champions managed to hold onto to go into the halftime interval well ahead and firmly in control.

The Cairo Red Devils start to the second exchanges came with a substitution in the form of Walid, who entered in the place of the attacking Kahraba.

Ahly’s pursuit to add onto their first half tally didn’t materialise after their host managed to get a way back to subsequently through Moumouni Diori to given themselve some hope ahead of the second leg.

The Red Devils will host the Niger outfit in Cairo next Saturday evening, with the winner advancing to the group stages.
