Senegal 0-0 Guinea

Senegal experienced a frustrating outing in their second 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Group B clash against Guinea which finished goalless on Friday.

The Teranga Lions could’ve joined the host nation Cameroon in the last 16 with back-to-back wins after seeing off Zimbabwe in their tournament opener on Monday.

However, a range of missed chances from in particular Bouna Sarr, talisman Sadio Mane and Boulaye Dia left the Senegalese to settle for a share of the spoils.

Malawi 2-1 Zimbabwe

Malawi boosted their quest to qualify for the knockout stage with a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe in a Southern African derby.

The Warriors, who received huge plaudits for their performance against Senegal, were first out of the starting blocks through JDR Stars’ Ishmael Wadi earlier in the first half.

Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango then put the Flames back on level terms before going on to get his second goal in the second half to aid his nation to their first win in this year’s tournament.

Morocco 2-0 Comoros

Morocco made it two wins from two matches in Group C to qualify for the last 16 with a 2-0 win over the tournament first-timers Comoros in Yaounde.

The Atlas Lions also entered the last 16 of the tournament after winning their opening match against Malawi two days ago, while Comoros went down to Gabon.

Attacker Selim Amallah got the opener in the first 16 minutes, as the North Africans rued a number of chances thereafter none more a penalty from Youssef En-Nesyri.

Though, the second eventually came albeit at the death through Zakaria Aboukhlal, who needed the intervention of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to approve after it was initially dismissed.

Gabon 1-1 Ghana

Gabon struck late in the second half to secure a 1-1 with Ghana at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo.

The Ghanaians got off to the perfect start as Andre Ayew found the back of the net with a superb strike from distance.

Gabon, who were once again without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina, got themselves a point in the final two minutes thanks to Jim Allevinah.

As a result, Gabon find themselves in second spot with four points while the Black Stars sit in third with one point from two games.
