Senegal dominate AFCON best XI

CAF have announced the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations team of the tournament, with Algeria and Senegal dominating the side.

Just a day after Algeria claimed their second Afcon title, CAF have decided to release their best XI from the past month.

There were only four players from Algeria squad to make the best XI, with Riyad Mahrez, Ismael Bennacer, Rais M'Bolhi and Adlene Guediora making the cut.

Runners-up, Senegal, boast the most players in the team as Sadio Mane, Lamine Gassama, Kalidou Koulibaly, Youssouf Sabaly and Idrissa Gueye.

Afcon top scorer Odion Ighalo also made the team after netting five goals for Nigeria, while Tunisia defender Yassine Meriah was the other non Senegal/Algeria player to make the team.

CAF XI:

M'Bolhi, Gassama, Meriah, Kalidou Koulibaly, Youssouf Sabaly, Gueye, Guediora, Bennaccer, Mane, Mahrez, Ighalo.
