Walusimbi named in Uganda squad

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Godfrey Walusimbi and two Absa Premiership stars have been named in the Uganda squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations by coach Sebastien Desabre.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango headlines the squad, with Maritzburg United's Alan Kateregga the other South African-based player.

Former Amakhosi left-back Walusimbi is one of two free agents also confirmed into the team ahead of their seventh Nations Cup appearance.

KCCA’s Sadam Juma, Carlstad United’s Alexis David Bbakka and Viper's midfielder Moses Waiswa were the notable omissions by the French tactician.
