SuperSport cuts ties with Fikizolo

Fikizolo joined Supersport United on a three-year deal from Thanda Royal Zulu at the start of the 2014/15 season when then-coach Cavin Johnson was appointed as the new coach of Matsantsantsa.

With game hard to come by with just three substitute appearances to his name, he was then loaned out to Golden Arrows in the second half of the season when Abafana Bes'thende were campaigning in the National First Division, scoring six goals in 13 starts under Shaun Bartlett as Arrows returned to the PSL.

SuperSport decided to loan him back to Arrows for the 2015/16 campaign following his exploits at the club, but he scored only once in 21 league appearances last year.

Fikizolo, who was part of Owen da Gama's side for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, then spent another loan stint with Arrows this past season, but it was not happy return in front goals as he failed to score in 19 league appearances.

Having been omitted from Clinton Larsen's last two match-day squads, Fikizolo cut a forlorn figure on the sidelines and left the training before it started, with the 23-year-old reportedly  unhappy at being omitted from the squad for his side’s Nedbank Cup semi-final against Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews has told this website that Fikizolo will not be part of the club next season under new coach Erick Tinkler as his contract will not be renewed.

''We'll not be renewing his (Fikizolo's) contract,'' Matthews said.

At this stage it is unclear where Fikizolo’s future lies, with youngster Nduduzo Sibiya stealing the limelight in his position at Arrows. With that said, it is highly unlikely he'll return to the club where he started out as the junior.
