Rise and Shine sound out Malesela

Chippa fired Malesela yesterday barely three games into the season following a 3-1 home defeat to Baroka on Tuesday night. He had been under pressure as the club narrowly survived relegation in 2016/17 with him sidelined for a spell on 'special leave'.

Former Orlando Pirates assistant coach Teboho Moloi was today appointed caretaker coach of the Chilli Boys, who are 12th in the Premiership standings with three points.

According to a source at Rise and Shine, the club are considering recruiting Malesela.

"Polokwane City have shown interest in Dan," says the source.

"They are expected to meet this week to discuss the possibility of the coach joining the club this season."

City, in 10th place on the table with four points from three games, are currently under the tutelage of Bernard Molekwa.

Molekwa was elevated from team manager to caretaker coach of Rise and Shine in March following the resignation of Luc Eymael. He registered five wins, two draws and three losses as the club finished a best-ever sixth in the topflight last term.
