Malesela was on Sunday welcomed back by Chippa Mpengesi just eight months after being sacked, in a move that shocked many football lovers across the country.
However, the 52-year-old tactician, who celebrated his birthday on the day his return was confirmed, has downplayed the fuss surrounding his appointment and believes “fate” came into play.
“I believe in fate, it is what has brought us back together. It was the cherry on top to celebrate my birthday and having my comeback to the club confirmed,” Malesela told the club’s website.
”I am grateful to be back. I really appreciate that the chairman is presenting me with this opportunity again.
“I thought when I left I would be able to move on and join another club, but God clearly wanted me back in Port Elizabeth with Chippa United.”
During his time away from the game, the former Sundowns development coach says he learnt a lot from Mosimane, who guided his side to the league championship while also navigating various domestic and continental challenges.
“I enjoy working with players on the pitch, but the break helped me to reflect and watch lot of football,” Malesela added.
”We can all take lessons from what Pitso is doing at Sundowns. It’s impressive. He has taken things to another level and we must emulate his achievements.
“The [team’s] approach will be slightly different this time around, with a lot of focus on offensive possession.”
