Zakri welcomes Urban Warriors move

With the additions of foreign players Jeremy Brockie and Gaston Sirino, as well as the return of Brazilian Ricardo Nascimento from a long lay-off, Sundowns had no choice but to loan Zakri out.

“This is a good move for me and I am very happy to be here,” Zakri told the Urban Warriors' website.

Zakri’s experience will come in handy for an Ajax side desperate to get out of the relegation zone. They will be hoping that he can gel with the likes of Tendai Ndoro, Fagrie Lakay and Tashreeq Morris to help the struggling Urban Warriors score more goals.

He’s got the pace to beat defenders and can chip in with some valuable goals.

“We have a lot of talented players here and I trust my teammates that we can get out of this situation. I’ve watched Ajax Cape Town play in the past and I know they play nice football. They miss some experience right now and I want to add that to the team.

“Now I have a new family and I just want to do my best. I trust the coach and I want to help the team. We just have to take it game by game, and everything will come right.”

Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral is delighted to have Zakri on board, which makes his attack even stronger.

“He is a player I’ve admired for a very long time and we are now very strong going forward‚”

Zakri could make his debut when the Urban Warriors take on Free State Stars at Cape Town Stadium tomorrow night (20h00).
