Rakhale will be joining Chippa United in a deal that sees Diamond Thopola and Phetso Maphanga now playing for the Buccaneers.
The winger is seen as one of those misunderstood players because of his flamboyant style of play. He made just nine appearances in all competitions for the Buccaneers in the first half of the season, two of which were starts.
Bucs coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has used Thabo Qalinge, Thabo Memela, Thembinkosi Lorch, Bernard Morrison, Riyaad Norodien and Rakhale on the wings this season.
Lekoelea, a fan-favourite at Pirates during his playing days, feels Rakhale would have been effective for the Soweto giants if he were given a free role in the side.
“Coaches have been changing too much at Pirates and Rakhale’s style of football is different. If he had been given a free role, then I think he would have been able to do well for the team. Players like him are needed at a big team like Pirates. He deserved a chance,” Lekoelea says.
Lekoelea says the Chippa fans are the ones who will benefit from Rakhale’s move because he will combine well with Mark Mayambela.
Both players are entertainers and coach Teboho Moloi knows how to use them effectively, having worked with them at Pirates.
“It benefits Chippa and I am sure the fans will be looking forward to seeing him with Mayambela.”
