Citizens draw with Wits

Puleng Tlolane netted first for the hosts and scored his 10th goal of the season, allowing the Citizens to claim four points from a possible six from the Clever Boys in the 2014/15 PSL season.
Kostadin Papic’s men took the game to the visitors and as early as the third minute, Tokelo Langa took a shot but experienced goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs safely held onto the ball. A few minutes later, Kabelo Lichaba followed up but missed to the left of the target.
In the fourth minute, a good pass from Rendani Ndou to Puleng Tlolane changed the atmosphere of the game as he made it 1-0 from outside the box.
In the 11th minute the Braamfontein side looked for a swift response through Dillon Sheppard, however, his effort from range went wide.
Four minutes later, the big Namibian-born striker Henrico Botes equalised with a fine header and the goal gave the students some motivation going forward.
To coach Gavin Hunt’s amazement, Sibusisio Vilakazi looked like he was brought down in the penalty area in the 37th minute but the referee waved play on.
Just after the half-hour mark, Dillon Sheppard saw his free-kick rattle the crossbar with goalkeeper Modiri Marumo beaten.
The visitors came back from the changing room and intensified their search for a lead but it wasn’t meant to be when Papy Faty’s shot went slightly wide of Marumo's posts in the 60th minute.
With seven minutes to go, Cole Alexander challenged Sheppard unfairly and gave away a free-kick, however, the former Mamelodi Sundowns left-footed man saw his effort parried by the keeper Marumo for a corner.

However, the hosts could have snatched all three points and Tlolane should have had his 11th goal of the season when he missed a sitter in front of goal, shanking wide and falling to his knees.
The draw puts the Clever Boys to position four with 41 points on the Absa Premiership table, whilst the Citizens remain placed on the eighth spot with 34 points, both with six matches to wrap up the season.
