Shitolo spent a season on loan at Golden Arrows in 2015/2016 and returned to the Buccaneers last season, but only made seven appearances during a disastrous campaign for the Soweto giants.
This season, however, Shitolo has been a regular in the side, playing 20 matches in all competitions for the Buccaneers.
While on loan to Arrows last season, Shitolo played in a holding midfield role and excelled. He return to the Buccaneers before the start of the current campaign and was given an opportunity to prove himself in a new Pirates backline which also features the likes of Innocent Maela and Mthokozisi Dube.
“Pirates are not a one man team. Everybody has done well for the team this season, but I think a player like Shitolo came to the team and he has done well,” Lekgwathi tells KickOff.com.
“Being loaned to Golden Arrows was a good experience and a wake up call for him. He came back and I have been so impressed with how he has performed at the back.”
Lekgwathi has also been impressed with Zambian duo Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga, who have both settled in well since joining the Buccaneers.
“I am so impressed with the two Zambians. I am always asking myself if these guys spoke to [Isaac] Chansa. You can see that they are wearing that Pirates jersey with pride. They mean business and they know the meaning of playing for Pirates.”
