Done deal: Maritzburg bolster midfield

Maritzburg United are set to confirm the acquisition of a former Bidvest Wits midfielder.

The club has reached an agreement to sign midfielder Daylon Claasen and will be unveiled ahead of the new campaign.

Classen has been training with The Team of Choice for the past few weeks with the hope of securing a deal with the KZN outfit.

The 29-year-old has since done well and has earned himself a contract.According to a source close to Maritzburg, the club has concluded negotiations with Classen.

“He is as good as a Maritzburg United player now,” said the source. “He will be unveiled very soon,” he added.

Maritzburg have already signed Phumlani Ntshangase to bolster their midfield after both Siphesihle Ndlovu and Fortune Makaringe left the club to join Orlando  Pirates  during the off season, while Keagan Buchanan is back from injury and gives coach Eric Tinkler options.
