Maritzburg United have enhanced their chances of surviving this season with another narrow victory in the promotion/relegation play-offs.
After edging National First Division outfit Royal Eagles 1-0 at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, the Team of Choice travelled to Thohoyandou for a tricky clash with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Wednesday afternoon.
It proved to be a tough afternoon for Eric Tinkler’s men, but they managed to get that all important three points ahead away from home, with a 2-0 win over TTM.
It was that man Judas Moseamedi who played a key role in the victory for the visitors after coming on as a substitute.
The former Cape Town City and Free State Stars striker came on for Mohau Mokate and got his head onto a Deolin Mekoa cross to give the Team of Choice the lead, just after the hour mark.
Eight minutes from time, midfielder Bongokuhle Hlongwane wrapped things up with a cool finish after he was set up by Moseamedi.
The victory puts Maritzburg on top of the promotion/relegation standings with six points.
TTM will hope to keep their chances alive with a victory over Royal Eagles on Saturday.
